Celebrated architect John Meagher dies aged 73
Co-founder of de Blacam and Meagher Architects was ‘invaluable to our culture’

The death has occurred of architect John Meagher, one of the founders of the well-known firm de Blacam and Meagher.
Mr Meagher, who died aged 73, studied at the Dublin Institute of Technology school of architecture (1966-71) and at Helsinki University of Technology school of architecture (1971-72).
He established de Blacam and Meagher Architects with Shane de Blacam in 1976.
In 2010 de Blacam and Meagher represented Ireland at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice .
In 2018 the firm received the outstanding contribution to architecture prize at the Building and Architect of the Year Awards. ....

e-Booklet to fast track climate change resilience in agriculture

AGRICULTURE NEWS - Yesterday, the Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Dr Ivan Meyer, launched the Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s (WCDoA’s) e-booklets on climate change entitled “The Mercury Rises”.
Based on the popular award-winning radio series “Die Kwik Styg , the e-booklets are available in the three official languages of the Western Cape – English, Afrikaans and IsiXhosa.
Speaking at the launch Minister Meyer highlighted that climate change is one of his ministerial priorities.
Meyer: “Addressing the impact of climate change is one of my Ministerial priorities. The publication of the e-booklets, The Mercury Rises , provides another platform to advance a climate-resilient future for the sector.” ....

Campbell was the Edmonton Football Team s head coach from 1977 to 1982, compiling a 70-21-5 regular-season record and leading the franchise to a Grey Cup appearance every year. The only blemish on a stellar 11-1 playoff mark is a 41-6 loss to Montreal in the 77 CFL final before an unprecedented five straight titles under Campbell, who later earned four more as a club executive.. ....
