A BMW driver high on cocaine and cannabis led police on a 35-mile chase that ended when he crashed into a bollard. Morgan Scott who has never passed his driving test, took off from officers on Thamesdown Drive after they tried to pull him over as he had a bald back tyre. During the hour-long pursuit the 21-year-old drove at up to twice the speed limit, jumped red lights, mounted a verge to avoid a stinger and forced one officer to jump out the way of his car. Scott kept his head bowed as footage of the chase was played to the court. ....

The man in the dock for that burglary, repeat offender Russell Bastow, denies scattering the ashes – but admits breaking into the Homington Avenue property on September 29. Together with another man, who has never been identified, he stole £700, two watches, a handbag, jewellery and a set of underwear. Bastow, 41, had expected to be sentenced on Thursday at Swindon Crown Court. But Judge Peter Crabtree put the case back to January 22 after raising a number of questions of the case that could not be answered by prosecutor Lucy Taylor. ....
CONSPIRACY GANG: Cannabis dealer found not guilty of supplying cocaine JURORS took less than three-and-a-half hours to acquit a Swindon man of involvement in a gang that flooded Swindon with cocaine. Jacob Hunt, 31, was said by prosecutors to be part of a group of six men – one of whom was just 16-years-old at the time – involved in the supply of class A drugs. The former Wroughton man, who now lives near Bath, had already admitted dealing large quantities of cannabis – but denied dipping his fingers into the cocaine trade. Five have already pleaded guilty to their part in the conspiracy. ....
