Samba: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today visited district Samba and inspected progress of various works of Rural Development Department and also held a Public Grievance camp at conference hall DC office Samba. During the tour programme, Advisor accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta, Director RDD Surdershan kumar, visited Rural Haat at Swankha morh, Pond Chapri at Thalori and Panchayat Ghar Badhori. Advisor Khan while inspecting the development works said that rural infrastructure should be put to optimum use for overall betterment of the rural society. He said the ‘Rural Haat’, at Swankha should be used as a platform for promotion of products of SHGs under NRLM, Small Scale Industries, Agro based Industries and products under ‘One District One Product’ programme. He also directed DDC for using Information Education and Communication activities for generating maximum awareness among the locals. ....
Swankha Club beats Hiranagar Club by 3-0 Shaheed Memorial Volleyball Tourney Excelsior Sports Correspondent SAMBA, Mar 12: Shaheed Joginder Singh and Parshotam Singh Memorial Volleyball Tournament, organised by local youth, concluded at Village Sanoora, here today. About 16 teams from Kathua and Samba districts participated in this tournament. The final match of the tournament was played between Swankha Club and Hiranagar Club in which former defeated the later by 3-0 sets. Durga Dass, Ex-MLA Hiranagar was the chief guest who gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up teams. The winner team was awarded with cash prize of Rs 8000, whereas runners-up team awarded with cash prize of Rs 5000. ....
Excelsior Correspondent VIJAYPUR (Samba), Jan 3: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that Congress neither had made any compromise on secularism for the sake of power nor would do so in future, as it was in the country’s interests. He said the Congress was not like the BJP which, he alleged, compromised on secularism for the sake of attaining power. “To keep the country integral and united, the Constitution refers to secularism and this ideology is in the interest of the nation,” he said while addressing public gathering at Swankha in Vijaypur. The programme was organized by Sarpanch Tirth Singh and also addressed by Sanjeev Sharma PCC Secy, Swarn Chairma Ex Servicemen Cell, Babal Gupta, Dharam Chand, Manohar Lal Bhagat, Darshan Lal Sharma, Gurdass besides others. ....
