Now, we have the most compelling evidence that another film is coming via Phillips lawyer. The tidbit was buried in a new feature in The Hollywood Reporter that spoke with various lawyers. In it, Warren Dern of Sloane Offer Weber & Dern revealed that Phillips signed a deal to co-write the next film in the franchise. Previously, rumours circulated that Warner Bros. had offered star Joaquin Phoenix $50 million to reprise the role, for which he had won an Academy Award. ....

The book is described as a scientific detective story about how Simard explores her own journey as both an ecologist, a former logger and a mother. Simard is a scientist who discovered how trees communicate through a web of underground fungi.
