Hyderabad: Continuing the crackdown on child labour as part of Operation Muskaan-VII, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Rachakonda police, along with Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), Telangana, on Tuesday night rescued 19 minor children employed as labour in two manufacturing companies.
In a late night operation, police, BBA, and other stakeholders rescued 16 children, including 14 girls, employed as child labourers by Venkateshwara traders, which manufactures paper egg cartons at Damara village near Choutuppal mandal under Rachakonda police commissionera
Trichy: The government railway police (GRP) in Trichy seized 60kg of ganja from Trichy junction railway station on Saturday.
A team of GRP personnel stumbled upon four bags on platform number 1 and on suspicion, when they checked, the found that the bags were filled with ganja.
Police said that there was no claimant for the bags. Police are planning to verify the CCTV footage to trace those who left behind such huge volume of ganja.
This is second such seizure after Trichy city police seized 42kg from three people few days back. On May 28, a special team police formed by commissioner of police, Trichy A Arun seized 21kg of ganja from Hariharan of Puthur near Srinivasa Nagar.
K. Abhisekapuram continues to report more COVID-19 cases than the other three zones in Tiruchi.
According to data available with health authorities, 1,100 patients tested positive for the virus in Tiruchi district on Tuesday. Of them, Tiruchi city accounted for 691 fresh cases. Rural areas of the district reported 343 cases.
Out of 691 cases in the city, K. Abhisekapuram accounted for 254 followed by Srirangam with 180. While Golden Rock zone reported 167 cases, Ariyamangalam registered 90.
The trend has been almost the same in Tiruchi city over the last 10 days. The average daily case count in K. Abhisekapuram zone hovers around 250. Srirangam zone follows with around 175. Ariyamangalam zone continues to be the least affected among the four zones with around 100 patients testing positive a day.
