According to the police report, that property was owned by Steve Johnson, who had leased it to Xavier McGrapth. According to his Facebook page, McGrapth is the owner of McGrapth Breaking and Training. The TDN was unsuccessful in its efforts to reach him. In a statement released Tuesday, the Sheriff s office said that the investigation was ongoing and that a suspect had been identified and a criminal complaint had been issued. (WTOC) - Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting near the corner of West 36th and Florance streets. According to the Savannah Police Department, officers responded to the 600 block of W. 36th Street around 1 a.m. and discovered a victim deceased from an apparent shooting. He was identified as 22-year-old Marcos Miranda Jr. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. (WTOC) - As Georgia continues to vaccinate seniors, healthcare workers, and first responders, a Savannah-Chatham school board member is urging the state to make the shots available to teachers. Georgia’s next phase of vaccine administration is Phase 1b, which includes essential workers. But according to an SCCPSS board member, it’s unclear if teachers are included in the next group. Dr. David Bringman was one of two school board members to vote not to reopen the district’s schools. (WTOC) - The Chatham County Board of Elections will begin processing absentee ballots ahead of next monthâs senate runoff. Poll workers will begin preparing the absentee ballots on Monday, Dec. 21 at the Elections Annex. This will begin around 10 a.m. Just like the Nov. 3 election, local officials expect to see a large number of absentee ballots. Starting Monday, poll workers will be able to get an early count of the mail-in ballots received so far. Theyâll also be able to check the voterâs information and prepare their ballots so that they will be ready to be put through the machine on Election Day.
