TYLER, Texas On Thursday, April 28, Samuel Virgo was convicted by a jury of the 7th District Court of Smith County for the offense of Evading Arrest with a Vehicle. Virgo was sentenced to 9 years in prison with a $5,000 fine.
The offense, which took place on November 6, 2017, Virgo was traveling at an excess of 100 miles per hour on a motorcycle along Highway 69 towards Lindale.
Smith County Deputy Fire Marshal Chad Hogue attempted to pull Virgo over. The pursuit continued to the intersection of I-20 and Highway 69 which was blocked by Detective Sherman Dollison with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office to stop the defendant.

Amazon plans to create 10-15 new package-sorting and delivery jobs in rural Jackson County by the end of the month.
Local economic development leaders shared the news with county commissioners at their regular meeting on Tuesday.
They say the company has already placed a few shipping containers in a parking lot located at 3529 Russell Rd., about a mile from the Marianna Municipal Airport.
“With COVID and everything, the two-day delivery has not been as possible as it was before,” said Zach Gilmore, the county’s director of business development. “In certain areas, where they’re not close to a large distribution center, they put these out there to where it’s a quicker delivery.”
Callum Pritchard - Cudgen Cricket Club Callum Pritchard has been pulling double duties between Under-16s and Coastal League games for Cudgen this season to good effect. With the gloves, Pritchard has claimed three wickets and two stumpings to go with a couple of impressive middle-order cameos with the bat.
David Parkes - Terranora Lakes Cricket Club David Parkes is another who has shown he can do it with the ball and in the field. Parkes has claimed five catches so far and with his haul of 10 wickets at 20, he s a key player for Terranora.
