However, lockdown restrictions are gradually easing and government officials are hopeful that holidays abroad will be able to resume in the coming months. Paul Knapper, manager of the Deansgate travel agency, Spires Travel, said it has been a confusing few months for the industry- but added that customers could still book with confidence with them. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced yesterday evening that, as of Saturday, Britons travelling back from the Spanish archipelago will have to self-isolate after the islandsâ collective seven-day case rate rose to 52.2 per 100,000 people. But critics have pointed out that the figures are skewed by the rate in Tenerife â currently 96.1 per 100,000 â with many asking why the UK cannot retain travel corridors with neighbouring islands such as Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, which both have far lower rates. ....
