Southern Landfill Transfer Station To Close For Repairs

Wellington’s Southern Landfill Transfer Station is to
close temporarily on weekdays while the roof replacement is
being carried out – but it will be open as usual at
weekends.
Work on the replacement starts Monday 14
June and is expected to last for at least five weeks. The
closure will impact domestic customers dropping-off general
waste, hazardous waste and green waste, but commercial waste
operators will not be affected.
The Tip Shop, Recycle
Centre and Capital Compost will remain open.

Wellington’s Southern Landfill Transfer Station is to close temporarily on weekdays while the roof is replaced – but it will be open as usual at weekends.
Work on the replacement will start on Monday 14 June and is expected to last for at least five weeks. The closure will impact domestic customers dropping-off general waste, hazardous waste and green waste, but commercial waste operators will not be affected.
The Tip Shop, Recycle Centre and Capital Compost will remain open.

Refuse centre, Plimmerton houses affected by deluge

The council said the Eftpos machine at the landfill was not working, but the machine at Trash Palace was.
The power company is working to get power back up, but it s expected to take two to three hours.
Two houses in the Porirua suburb, Plimmerton, were also hit by heavy rain overnight, one by debris, and another by a hole opening up on their driveway.
Two large pumps were set up to keep the beach culvert clear this morning.
Meanwhile, crews from Wellington Water, the Council and Downer are out across the rest of the city, clearing culverts and responding to callouts. ....
