A JUDGE has jailed a Cumbrian man who told his uncle he could pay somebody to have him killed - and then grabbed him by the throat. Carlisle Crown Court heard how just weeks after mistreating his uncle in Windermere, 33-year-old Christopher Berton behaved badly towards a disabled friend, tipping him from his wheelchair and stealing his computer. As he passed sentence, the judge in the case said Berton’s actions had been those of “a coward and a bully.” The defendant, of Spooner Vale, Windermere, admitted a series of offences relating to the incidents: two thefts, criminal damage, and two common assaults. ....
