KISPE to develop proton testing campaign for next-gen microsatellite technologies KISPE Space Systems, a Farnborough-based programme execution and systems engineering company, is in collaboration with the University of Surrey, making detailed preparations for a comprehensive proton-testing campaign on its next-generation microsatellite platform microelectronics These tests will enable the company to continue the development of the platform and drive the commercialisation of the microprocessors for future, low-cost small-satellite missions. SPRINT, the national business support programme, will fund the planning and preparation for comprehensive proton testing campaign and enable KIPSE Space to develop virtualised environments for collaborators to develop solutions based on these processors and initiate evaluations of a new group of commercial processors for additional mission applications. ....
Safeguard is a wearable device that can fit into a hard hat, armband or pocket. Using machine learning, Safeguard can recognize the unique movement patterns of users completing different tasks and record exactly what is happening every second of the day. Mafic Ltd. Electronic engineers from the University of Southampton are working with the tech company Mafic to develop a hard hat that uses the Internet of Things (IoT) to track construction worker movements and improve safety. The hard hat, called Safeguard, is a wearable device that fits inside a hard hat. It uses machine learning to recognize workers unique movement patterns while they are completing tasks and records while it is happening. ....
January 8, 2021 540 Views TISICS, a world-leading supplier of lightweight Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) for high performance industries, has signed up to the national SPRINT business support programme. SPRINT will provide funding for two projects, in collaboration with the University of Surrey and The Open University, to develop technologies that will enable advanced lightweight tanks for demisable spacecraft and the critical tanks needed for lightweight storage of hydrogen to meet net-zero transport ambitions. The first project will develop standardised fracture mechanics testing methods and the second, digitising a key process to reduce both cost and manufacturing energy consumption. TISICS is the only integrated ceramic fibre and metal composite manufacturer worldwide, with a vision to develop world-leading industrial supply of high-performance pressure vessels and 40 per cent lighter components for space, aviation and low-energy transport sectors. ....
Dec 15 2020 Read 607 Times Recycle2Trade, an environmental sector ICT specialist, has signed up to the national SPRINT business support programme. SPRINT funding will enable Recycle2Trade to collaborate with the University of Leicester on a project that will use satellite observations of landfills to detect gas emissions and damage to surrounding vegetation. The SPRINT project will support Recycle2Trade’s development of a Machine Learning-based data intelligence platform to monitor landfill sites, integrating Internet of Things (IoT) ground detection systems and satellite data from Sentinel-5p and Sentinel-2 missions. This cloud-based solution will provide site operators early warning of emissions, enabling them to take actions to prevent asset damages and therefore reducing the risks for insurance companies. ....
