On Monday around 4:30p.m. members of the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit saw 42 year old Donald Willhite in the area of 11th Street and Percy Avenue. The officers knew Willhite has an active arrest warrant out of Sangamon County.
The officers arrested Willhite without incident. During a search of Willhite the officers found a loaded Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 caliber pistol. The firearm had been reported stolen by a Springfield resident earlier in the month.
Willhite was charged with unlawful possession of weapon by felon and armed habitual criminal. He is in custody at the Sangamon County Jail and bond has been set at $150,000.00.

Springfield, Illinois – On April 28, 2021, members of the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force responded to the 3000 block of Interlacken Drive for a report of a wanted subject. Contact was made with 28 year old Andy Broyles Jr. at the residence and he was taken into custody. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and the following items were located and taken as evidence: 103.4 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a Lorcin .380 caliber firearm, $476 in US currency, and various types of ammunition.
Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright charged Broyles with 2 Counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, class X felonies, one count of armed habitual criminal, a class X felony, one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class 1 felony, possession of a weapon by a felon, a class 3 felony, and possession
Moses A. Johnson, 24, was charged with aggravated robbery and robbery in the Dec. 23 holdup.
According to a SPD new release, Johnson implied that he had a weapon and took $170 in cash.
The investigation is ongoing and other suspects might be arrested for their alleged parts in the robbery.
Springfield Police also arrested Eric L. Allison, 25, while members of the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit were serving a search warrant in the 2100 block of Eastdale on Tuesday afternoon.
Allison was in possession of a firearm when he was taken into custody. Allison was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and delivery of cannabis.
