On Monday around 4:30p.m. members of the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit saw 42 year old Donald Willhite in the area of 11th Street and Percy Avenue. The officers knew Willhite has an active arrest warrant out of Sangamon County.
The officers arrested Willhite without incident. During a search of Willhite the officers found a loaded Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 caliber pistol. The firearm had been reported stolen by a Springfield resident earlier in the month.
Willhite was charged with unlawful possession of weapon by felon and armed habitual criminal. He is in custody at the Sangamon County Jail and bond has been set at $150,000.00.

DENVER â One man has been arrested whom the FBI believes is connected to its investigation into âtake-overâ bank robberies around the Denver metro.
The FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force is conducting an investigation into a pattern theyâve seen in ten robberies, two of which included a carjacking, where the robbers enter the banks, hold people inside at gunpoint and force employees to empty their cash drawers.
Jerome Bravo was identified as a suspect, and on April 12, investigators took Bravo into custody after he attempted to run from Denver police officers at the Greens Apartments on 10700 E. Dartmouth Ave.

A Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officer on Sunday used a tourniquet to stop blood loss from a 22-year-old Scottville man, who was recovering Monday in an area hospital from an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shooting occurred Sunday morning on U.S. Forest Service-managed land that is available for target shooting, east of Manistee in Manistee County.
Conservation Officer Scott MacNeill the first emergency responder on scene, spoke with the thankful man on Monday morning. To respect the man’s medical privacy, the DNR is not releasing his name.
According to MacNeill, the man told him: “Your tourniquet saved my life. If I had to wait for EMS I don’t know what I would have done.”
DNR Conservation Officer Saves Mans Life
A man from Mason County is thanking a Michigan DNR conservation officer for saving his life on Monday. According to a release from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources on Monday, a 22-year-old Scottville man was target shooting on U.S. Forest Service, east of Manistee; managed land that is available for target shooting.
The man used his cellphone to call 911 after he accidentally fired a shot from his .40 caliber Smith and Wesson Bodyguard pistol into his left leg. Manistee County Sheriff’s Office deputies received the call around 11:49 AM, Monday morning. Conservation Officer Scott MacNeill was the first emergency responder on the scene, arriving three minutes later.
