Triad residents woke up to an unexpected bright light in the sky Sunday morning.Some thought it was a meteor. Others thought it was a UFO.But according to NBC affiliate WAVY in Portsmouth, Virginia, the bright light was a SpaceX satellite launch at 6:01 a.m. Sunday morning. This morning s launch was scheduled to be a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to launch approximately 60 satellites for SpaceX s Starlink broadband network in a mission designated Starlink 21, according to the Space Calendar on Space.com.The launch happened at the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It was originally scheduled for 5:44 a.m., NBC affiliate WRAL reported.Residents in Boonville, Yadkinville and Sparta contacted WXII 12 News to report the mysterious bright light. One person said the traffic on Highway 421 in Yadkin County came to a complete stop to see the bright light moving quickly across the sky.Another said the ligh ....

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) Growing up in the Triad, Mason Via and Presley Barker were familiar with the careers of each other as fellow musicians and singer/songwriters but had never met until they auditioned in California for the latest season of “American Idol.”
They are among hopefuls from across the country vying for golden tickets to Hollywood on the show.
Although he grew up in Danbury, Via (pronounced Vi), 23, now lives in Winston-Salem. Barker, 16, a native of Traphill, is a 10th-grader at East Wilkes High School. ....
