Uley mum runs 100k in 'words' for charity in Dursley and Cam for Josh Hall

A Uley mum is running 100 kilometres in memory of Josh Hall, who was murdered in Cam, to raise money for The Door youth charity.
Nikki Clarke, who lost her brother when she was 21, is completing the fundraiser in solidarity with all those impacted by Josh’s death by running in the shape of words like ‘Josh,’ ‘love’ and ‘hope’ around Wotton, Dursley and Cam.
She ‘wrote’ Josh on the Rec playing field in Cam this morning at 6am, where his funeral procession passed by at 10am.
“It’s an act of solidarity. Rather than just running kilometres for the sake of running kilometres I’m trying to make it a bit more meaningful and reflective,” said Nikki, who’s daughter went to school with Josh at Rednock. ....

Dursley choir raise 1k for Stroud Foodbank with concert DVD

Dursley Male Voice Choir have raised more than £1,000 for Stroud District Foodbank through sales of its lockdown concert DVD.
Communicating only via Whatsapp, the choir members individually recorded themselves using mobile phones before editing those recordings into a complete performance.
The money will help the foodbank to support the increasing number of families who are struggling during the pandemic.

“We’re really chuffed, we started singing the songs soon after we went into the first lockdown to keep the choir alive,” said choir member Simon Bilous, who suggested the project. ....

Nailsworth Rotary Club is planning to provide an outdoor Children focussed event at Easter, Covid rules permitting .
This follows a successful event at Halloween last year, and stems from our deep concern for the well being of our children.
Although Rotary is a global charity, famous for its devotion to the eradication of Polio, it is now making strides in the fight against Covid.
But it works through local groups of people who become friends.
