MDOT is pausing work and lifting traffic restrictions across the state to help ease travel ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
MDOT says it’ll be lifting lane restrictions on more than 62% of road and bridge projects. AAA Michigan estimates more than 1.1 million Michigan residents are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, a 57 percent increase from last year.

Loads not permitted for 2 MDOT bridge projects

The Michigan Department of Transportation has changed a portion of a current construction project in Manistee County.
Recently, MDOT said all permitted loads have been changed to no permitted loads on M-55 over the Manistee River Bridge in Manistee County. The project was started to replace the M-55 bridge over the Manistee River northeast of Manistee. MDOT is in the process of replacing the M-55 bridge over the Manistee River.
The work also requires a detour that will remain in place throughout construction and will use M-55, Stronach Road and U.S. 31.
MDOT also is currently doing one other bridge project in Osceola County near Reed City. ....

MDOT - Detour for M-55 Manistee River bridge project begins soon

PROJECT:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest nearly $10.3 million to replace the M-55 bridge over the Manistee River, northeast of Manistee. This project will include relocating sanitary sewer and water main, as well as private utility relocations that are currently under way. Work also involves bridge approach and road work on both sides of the bridge.

This work will require a detour that will remain in place throughout the project using M-55, Stronach Road, and US-31. This route will add about 5 miles and about 10 minutes for anyone driving on M-55 to reach US-31 north of Manistee. ....

M-55 in Manistee County will be closed from US-31 to Stronach Road from Dec. 21, 2020, to November 2021 for a $10.3 million bridge replacement. The bridge spanning the Manistee River is 89 years old.
