The Australian military might have to return to analogue ways during Talisman Sabre 2021 - their biggest biennial joint military exercise - in July after an alleged security breach was found in the $1.6 billion Israeli-made computer system they use.
But Elbit Systems of Australia Managing Director, Paul McLachlan, denies the battle management system (BMS) technology had been compromised.

The first class action case to be tried in a Queensland court has moved its scheduled trial date due to COVID-19 restrictions impacting expert reports and evidence gathering.
More than 150 people (commercial fishermen and associated businesses) have filed a class action case against Gladstone Ports Corporation, seeking up to $150 million in damages.
The claim by fishers from Bowen to Sydney including Keppel Bay, Stanage Bay and Gladstone region, is dredging and associated works in 2011 during the Gladstone Port expansion project polluted waters and seas, degrading the quality and quantity of fish, impacting commercial fishermen and associated businesses’ livelihoods. ....

Millions of dollars have been splashed into a road upgrade that will seal the link between the Bruce Highway and part of the Central Queensland coastline.
The first stage of works is underway on the major project of sealing 39.7km of Stanage Bay Road.
The $21.6m project, which is fully-funded through the Federal Government’s Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative, involves the upgrade of unsealed sections of Stanage Bay Road to sealed road standard between the Bruce Highway and the Army Access gate. ....

Helicopter called after camper falls from roof top tent

The RACQ Capricorn Rescue was called to Stanage Bay in the early hours of Sunday morning after a man fell from a roof top tent while camping with friends.
The incident was reported around 1.40am to Charon Point in the Stanage Bay vicinity.
A male in his 50s had woken during the night and while descending from the tent, slipped on the ladder and fell.
Rescue 300 conducted a low reconnaissance of the area and found a suitable landing site at the campground on the edge of the beach.
The male suffered minor scratches over his body and had suspected lower limb injuries. ....
