Stoughton police searching for man who tried stealing woman s purse in Walmart parking lot

Stoughton Police Department squad car STOUGHTON, Wis. Dane County authorities are searching for a man after he tried stealing a woman’s purse in a Walmart parking lot Thursday morning. Stoughton police said they were called to the Walmart at 2600 STH 138 around 8:30 a.m. The victim of the attempted robbery said the suspect jumped out of the passenger seat of a vehicle, a 2018 Toyota Camry, and tried wrestling her purse away from her. When he failed to get the purse, the suspect got back in the vehicle’s passenger seat and the driver sped off toward Oregon. Oregon police later spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 14 toward Madison. Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to flee while driving over 100 mph. Police ultimately stopped the pursuit near Lacy Road.

Enterprise staff Following a year in which most Fourth of July events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, area residents can attend a variety of in-person events this holiday. Here’s a list of local parades, fireworks and other events to celebrate Independence Day. Bridgewater The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 4, on Grove Street, then travels onto Summer Street, to Dean Street, to Worcester Street, through the center of town, onto Summer Street and ends at Bridgewater State University. The Music and Art Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on The Quad at Boyden Hall at Bridgewater State University, at 131 Summer St. The carnival will be held at 5 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. on Legion Field, at 175 Bedford St.
