(KNSI) – It’s been a deadly week on Minnesota roads with a dozen deaths, including a Stearns County resident. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety says 12 people have died since May 1. Four deaths were speed-related, three involved alcohol, and two were unbelted motorists. Preliminary figures from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety show 122 people have died on Minnesota roads since Jan. 1, compared to 93 last year at this time. The last time Minnesota reached 122 fatalities by May 7 was in 2008, when 132 people died on Minnesota roads. On May 1, Troy Karger, of Albany, was on a motorcycle and not wearing a helmet. The MN DPS says the 52-year-old was speeding on a Stearns County Road 54 when he ran off the road at a curve and hit mailboxes and a fence. ....

The Stearns County Sheriff s Office says just before 4:00 p.m. Tuesday they received multiple calls of a fire in the west ditch of Highway 71, just south of the intersection with Stearns County Road 29.
