Parties are negotiating an expanded ground lease The team is negotiating a new and expanded ground lease that could extend up to 60 years to accommodate its new Mapfre practice facility on the site, documents show. Negotiations on the long-term lease recently passed the two-year mark since the project was announced in late 2018. The team didn t respond to a request this month to discuss its term sheet. The Dispatch obtained documents from the state DAS through the Ohio Public Records Act. It s unclear why the team thinks transferring the title of Mapfre Stadium would affect the team s property taxes. The only money currently paid on Mapfre is the result of a 2007 settlement between the team and Columbus City schools. That contract locks the team into making annual payments in lieu of taxes as long as the facility remains tax-exempt. ....
