Learned helplessness is well documented. It takes place when an individual believes he continuously faces a negative, uncontrollable situation and stops trying to improve his circumstances, even when he has the ability to do so. Discovering the loss of control elicits a passive reaction to a harmful situation. Psychologists call this a maladaptive response, characterized by avoidance of challenges and the collapse of problem-solving when obstacles arise. You give up trying to fight back. ....

All were topics of the most-viewed stories on Great Lakes Echo last year.
And more than half – nine – of the most popular 16 stories dealt with wildlife
Some on the top-16 roster were newly reported in 2020, including ones about mysterious sinkholes under Lake Huron and recipes for Great Lakes Indigenous foods.

Experts reveal that overindulgence can lead to learned helplessness.
Dr. David J Bredehoft shared in an article in Psychology Today how overindulgence can cause children to be helpless.
Unconsciously, parents teach their children helplessness when they practice overindulgence or doing everything for their children.
It is either because they do not want to make their children feel disappointed or because they no longer want to go through the hassle of teaching their children.
Whatever the reason may be, experts say that overindulgence can lead to learned helplessness.
