Stephen Whalen, of Brookline, managing partner at City Realty Group in Brookline, spoke to youth and supporters at the annual BASE Ball event hosted by The BASE.
Whalen, a longtime supporter of this Roxbury-based nonprofit, delivered a talk about the importance of reimagining partnerships and workforce development and his passion for providing career opportunities for young people in Boston’s neighborhoods. City Realty Group is a supporter of The BASE and has hired BASE student-athletes as interns who have gone on to earn jobs within the company and in Boston’s real estate industry. CRG has also paid for The BASE youth to obtain real estate licenses. ....

City Kids donates 10 Chromebooks to students at St. Brendan School

Representatives of the City Kids program visited Dorchester’s St. Brendan School to donate 10 new Chromebooks that will help students with remote learning and at school. City Kids is a youth education nonprofit organization founded by City Realty Group Managing Partners Fred Starikov and Stephen Whalen to provide Boston kids with unique experiences and powerful educational resources.
The parish school educates and nurtures about 245 students in a safe environment rich in Catholic identity and tradition. LEWISTOWN The best way to get students back in the classroom is for the community to follow guidelines put in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mifflin County School District’s Board of Directors agreed during its meeting Thursday night.
Board member Frederick Nickel raised concerns regarding rising failure rates as some students are dealing with truancy issues.
Administration announced recently that truancy was a growing problem this year as students do their school work remotely.
Frederick cited an article from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association that he said indicates schools aren’t “super spreaders” of COVID-19. ....
