REGINA Melfort’s Logan Ferland has been putting his skills on display at the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ training camp. The offensive lineman has been a part of the Riders’ since 2019 when he did double duty with the Regina Thunder. Offensive Line Coach Stephen Sorrells said all the young prospects for the line have exceeded his expectations, including Ferland who is practicing at centre for the first time. “I’ve been telling people for two years that I think Logan Ferland’s going to be a really, really good football player in this league,” said Sorrells. “He’s a guy that I think can play centre guard or eventually, could play some tackle.”
A former member of the Regina Thunder is looking to make some noise this year.
Logan Ferland is one of a number of players vying for a job on the Saskatchewan Roughriders offensive line.
The group was a strength for the CFL team in 2019, but only two returning starters are back centre Dan Clark and tackle Terran Vaughn leaving the team with a number of question marks.
Takoby Cofield and Braden Schram both announced they wouldn’t be playing this year, Dariusz Bladek and Philip Blake signed with the Toronto Argonauts, Thaddeus Coleman was a free agent but recently signed with the Edmonton Elks. Additionally, Dakoda Shepley is with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers after opting out of his contract in 2020.
Riders announce 2021 coaching staff By Derek Taylor
Craig Dickenson will have one fewer coach on his staff in 2021.
The team announced its 2021 coaching staff Monday. All 10 of the coaches are returning from this year.
Jason Shivers in back for a third year as Defensive Coordinator. He extended his contract through 2022.
Jason Maas stays on Offensive Coordinator after joining the team for 2020. His deal now runs though 2022 as well.
The rest of the coaching staff have contracts through 2021:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have locked up general manager Jeremy O’Day and head coach Craig Dickenson for the next three seasons.
The CFL team announced it has signed both to two-year contract extensions, taking them through the 2023 season.
O’Day took over as general manager in January 2019 after then-general manager/head coach Chris Jones left for an opportunity with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. One of O’Day’s first actions as general manager was to hire Dickenson as Jones’ successor on the bench.
