The sceptical board of Premier Investments had a simple message for chairman Solomon Lew when he told them he had decided to chase JB Hi-Fi chief executive Richard Murray to replace Premierâs outgoing boss, Mark McInnes.
Good luck with that.
Not surprisingly, Lew was undaunted. Indeed, itâs understood the veteran retailer was so confident he could land Murray he didnât even approach another candidate. And on Wednesday, shortly after JB Hi-Fi announced Murray had stepped down, Lew was finally able to tell the market he had pulled off an impressive hiring coup. ....

It will also be interesting to see where the Australian electronics retailer’s shares move, after finishing yesterday’s market close at $47.52.

According to this morning’s release, JB Hi-Fi advised it has appointed Mr. Terry Smart to become its new group CEO. The announcement follows current group CEO Mr. Richard Murray’s decision to depart from the company to take on new challenges. ....

This letter is regarding the Ludgershall market starting up on a Friday morning at the Memorial Hall. Until the pandemic started we had a thriving Friday morning club in this hall, open to all for teas, coffees etc. with monthly raffles and a Christmas dinner for all at The Queens Head pub. Subsequent to the lockdown easing, we found that the new charges for using the hall has become too prohibitive and we are moving to the Church Hall in Ludgershall for our Friday meetings. I enclose a quote from Councillor Allan regarding the Friday market in which she said: “I’d like it to go as big as possible.” She said: “maybe have it indoors as well as outdoors and make it a big thing on a Friday morning; do teas, coffees and everything else. It could be a place where everyone can come down and have a chat and buy something.” ....

PROPOSALS to replace a damaged weir over the Thames will be discussed by Oxford planning chiefs this week.
The weir, a kind of small dam, sits across the Thames next to the Trout Inn south of Godstow Bridge.
The current structure, named Godstow Weir B is made of concrete and dates back to the 1930s.
It could be replaced by a new, modern-looking concrete weir which would include a fish pass , if plans for the work is given the go-ahead by Oxford City Council s west area planning committee today. ....
