Ronan Keating has spoken candidly about how the death of his mother and his best friend Stephen Gately affected his mental health.
During an appearance on Friday s Loose Women, 44-year-old Ronan - who is an ambassador for bereavement charity StrongMen - said: Losing my mother at 21, and my best friend at 33 - Stephen Gately - I had to ask, Am I doing ok? The mind is a dark place and a scary place.
Ronan s mother Marie died of cancer at the age of 51 in 1998 while Boyzone star Stephen died aged 33 in 2009 due to an undetected heart condition.

It may have been 11 years since Boyzone s Stephen Gately passed away, but he will never be forgotten.
Taking to social media, Keith Duffy shared a touching tribute to his late bandmate.
Alongside a black and white photo of Gately, the 46-year-old singer wrote: A smile on a face that lightens and brightens a Sunday morning #keepingmemoriesalive #Steo.
Fans of the band flocked to the comments section to share their support for the musician and to celebrate Gately s life.
Another wrote: So true, thank you for making us all smile.

Ronan Keating, 44, headed back out on tour with Boyzone in 2018 and 2019.
The singer, born in Dublin on March 3, 1977, auditioned for Stars In Their eyes before joining the boyband.
He s the youngest of five children with one sister, Linda, and three brothers - Ciarán, Gerard and Gary.
