Fifteen secondary schools across Nottinghamshire have been forced to shut down their IT networks after the central trust that manages them was hit by a “sophisticated” cyber attack.
All of the schools that are part of the Nova Education Trust have had no access to their “usual modes of communication” since 3 March, including email, phones and their websites. This means that online learning provisions set up in response to the Covid-19 pandemic cannot currently go ahead for pupils learning from home. ....

Foxtons rejects claims of slow reaction to data leak
Investigators have unearthed 16,000 data records that seem to have been stolen in an attack on property firm Foxtons last year, but the organisation says it acted by the book in dealing with the incident

Property firm Foxtons has insisted it acted by the book in dealing with an October 2020 cyber security incident after personally identifiable information (PII) relating to an unknown number of customers was found circulating on the dark web.
The initial attack took place on 16 October and forced the firm to take its customer portal offline. It informed the relevant authorities of the incident, which it described at the time as a “limited malware virus” which affected multiple other companies at the same time, and said it was not obliged to inform its customers because no notifiable data had been compromised. ....

Pixlr data breach exposes over 1.9 million user records


According to a 
Bleeping Computerreport, ShinyHunters shared the database on the dark web. The hacker claimed they stole the database during their November breach of 123rf, which shares the same parent company as Pixlr. 
In the 123rf breach, hackers stole over 8.3 million user data records. These records contained email addresses, MD5 hashed passwords, company names, phone numbers, addresses, PayPal emails, and IP addresses.
ShinyHunters has also been responsible for data breaches at Minted, Chatbooks, Wattpad, and others.
