Primary results could settle some election races

There are several contested municipal elections around Perry County that could be settled in the primary on May 18, while others simply set up a general election contested race for November, according to the candidates listed with the county Elections and Voter Registration office.
Marysville’s council is a prime example of a race that could be settled in the primary. It has three four-year seats up for grabs in the election with no Democratic candidates, but four Republicans vying for a seat. The candidates are: John D. Edkin Sr., Alexandria Snyder, David I. Magee and Leigh Ann M. Urban.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. Marshall University President Jerome Gilbert announced on Wednesday that he will not seek a contract extension at the end of his current term in 2022.
The letter stated, “I am writing to let you know that after considerable personal reflection, I have decided to define the endpoint of my term as president of Marshall University.
“For a variety of personal and professional reasons, I have informed the Board of Governors that I will not seek an extension of my current contract and will be stepping down from my position effective July 15, 2022.”
