The New Jersey branch of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) has sent a letter to University President Dr. Joseph Nyre, protesting the administration’s proposed restructuring plan, calling it a “violation of shared governance.”
The plan, announced in late April by Provost Katia Passerini, would change the structure of several colleges, merging the College of Communications and the Arts with the College of Education and Human Services, merge the College of Nursing with the School of Health and Medical Sciences, create closer ties between the School of Diplomacy and International Relations and Seton Hall Law, and make internal changes in the College of Arts and Sciences. ....

The Provost announced a plan to restructure the University’s schools and colleges, titled “seeds of innovation,” via an email to students on April 23 in a bid to reduce administration costs.
The controversial restructure is one of the first implementation steps for the “Harvest Our Treasures” strategic plan, and would affect seven colleges at the University.
The plan will merge the College of Nursing and the College of Medical Science into a new “College of Nursing and Health Sciences.”
It also hopes to merge the College of Communications and the Arts with the College of Education and Human Services into what is tentatively named the “College of Education, Communication Arts and Human Services.” ....

Pirates Pitch: Training app, virtual reality arcade head list of winners at Seton Hall


Nicholas Marinelli gave himself a goal when he enrolled at Seton Hall University in the fall of 2017.
“When I was a freshman, I made it a personal goal to create a startup before I graduated,” he said.
Marinelli more than accomplished the feat.
Earlier this month, Marinelli was the big winner at the 11
th annual Pirates Pitch Startup Contest, where university student entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to compete for over $16,000 in venture capital seed funding in an event sponsored by Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Stillman School of Business.
Marinelli was awarded $7,000 for his Extra Time Training App, which allows soccer players to train smarter, harder and more efficiently on a cutting-edge platform that tracks their tactical and fundamental performances. Marinelli also earned the $500 Audience Choice Award. ....
