(Shutterstock) STAMFORD, CT Stamford Public Schools announced Tuesday that Lisa Saba-Price has been named the new principal of Westover Magnet Elementary School. Saba-Price, who currently serves as principal of Newfield Elementary School, will take over the position from Kathleen Wunder, Westover s current principal who is set to retire on June 30, according to a news release. Saba-Price is scheduled to begin her new position on July 1. LENOX â The search for a new town schools superintendent is down to two finalists, both of whom are on deck for public interviews by the School Committee on Tuesday. Chosen from an initial pool of 15 applicants to succeed interim Superintendent William Cameron, including three from Berkshire County and seven from elsewhere in Massachusetts, the finalists are: ⢠Beth Choquette, a Cheshire resident and principal of the Bridge Street School in Northampton since 2012. Itâs one of the Hampshire County cityâs three public elementary schools, with a student enrollment of 291. Previously, she was principal of Stamford Elementary School in Vermont for six years. Concurrently, Choquette was co-founder, co-director, board president and instructor of the Windsor School of Music in North Adams from 2008-09. She taught music at the former Plunkett Elementary School in Adams from 2000-06 (now Hoosac Valley Elementary School). ....
STAMFORD, Vt. â The Select Board on Tuesday doubled down on its recent defiance of Gov. Phil Scottâs health emergency orders, voting to âterminateâ the governorâs restrictions relating to COVID-19 and impose local regulations. Three of the five board members supported the motion, saying they would likely follow most of Scottâs emergency orders but not any they believe trample on rights guaranteed in the U.S. and Vermont constitutions. Daniel Potvin and Michael Denault, who led the advocacy for the action during a more than 90-minute debate, and Carol Fachini voted in favor. Chairwoman Nancy Bushika and Christopher Warren voted against. ....

STAMFORD â The Vermont State Police has spoken to a Stamford official about the purpose of the governorâs order not to congregate during this period, after the town held a community Christmas tree lighting ceremony last week. State police got in touch with Town Clerk Lori Shepard to âprovide educational guidance on the executive orders,â VSP spokesman Adam Silverman said. He said state police reached out after receiving multiple reports about the event, which was held Dec. 4 in front of the Stamford Elementary School. The town advertised on its website that the tree lighting would have free doughnuts and hot cocoa for children, as well as wagon rides with Santa and Christmas carol singing. ....
