Deborah Riding will offer financial advice to the firm’s growing portfolio of clients and coach their advisers and business support team to develop their own skills. Deborah worked for 21 years at HSBC.

SUCCESS: Sophie McMillan, of Stan Sherlock Associates A family-run firm of financial planners is celebrating another exceptional career achievement for a member of their team. Just one year after becoming an approved protection adviser, Sophie McMillan has now qualified as a mortgage adviser with Stan Sherlock Associates. She was awarded her CF6 qualification by the Personal Finance Society, part of the Chartered Insurance Institute Group. This is the third financial advice qualification for Sophie during her six-year career with the firm. Sophie, who lives in Carlisle, studied for her mortgage adviser exams during the last national Covid-19 lockdown, while continuing to work full-time as a protection adviser and supervise the firm’s Yorkshire Building Society agency.
Top marks for Stan Sherlock apprentices

Two apprentices at a Carlisle financial planners and mortgage advisers have achieved the top marks in their course.
Holly Fears and Ellis Watret completed level 3 business administration apprenticeships with Carlisle College while working full-time for Stan Sherlock Associates.
Ellis joined the firm aged 18 and progressed through roles on reception and within the firmâs Yorkshire Building Society branch and now holds an integral business support role within the mortgage advice team.
Ellis said: âMy job is really interesting, and itâs been great to gain a relevant qualification while also earning a salary and gaining the skills and experience that will benefit my long-term career.
