Ohio State veterinary students are getting unique hands-on training through a new primary care clinic.
On Tuesday, The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine opened the doors of its new Frank Stanton Veterinary Spectrum of Care Clinic. The 35,000 square foot facility allows students in the college of veterinary medicine to advance their clinical training while providing affordable care for pet owners.
In a news release, the college said the goal of the program is to ensure veterinary graduates entering private practice have the competence and confidence to provide more in-clinic treatment and to offer a variety of treatments for pets that belong to pet parents across a wide-ranging socioeconomic spectrum. ....

Framingham To Unveil Dog Park Plans At Community Meeting

FRAMINGHAM, MA Framingham in June will take a big step toward building the city s first formal dog park: the parks department will unveil a final design for the facility that will be built at Farm Pond Park.
The quest for a dog park in Framingham dates back years to the founding of the FRAMBark group, but the effort picked up steam in 2020 when the city hired a firm to scout a location for the potential park.
After looking at several sites, the parks department, with community input, decided that an approximately one-acre portion at the south end of Farm Pond Park would be an ideal site. In March, Framingham won a $23,000 grant from the Stanton Foundation a nonprofit that has helped fund numerous dog parks in Massachusetts, including the new one in Natick to begin designing the park. ....

Dog park gets grant for design process

Corey Blanchard, the president of Dartmouth Park Affiliation of Wareham, reported at the May 25 Board of Selectmen’s meeting that the dog park advocates had received a grant to cover the start of the park’s design process.
The grant, about $22,000 from the Stanton Foundation, will cover the initial portion of the design process and will include a quote for the final design cost and the cost of construction.
Blanchard said that DPAW had already raised about $20,000 for overage costs not included in grants. Although some of the group’s fundraising ideas were not possible during the pandemic, a calendar contest at the end of last year was quite successful, Blanchard said, as were ongoing monthly can and bottle drives. ....
