Eight individuals will be inducted into the Maine Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame at the 19th Annual Maine Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame banquet scheduled for October 16th at Sugarloaf.
The Maine Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame was established as a division of the Maine Ski and
Snowboard Museum (formerly known as the Ski Museum of Maine) to recognize individuals who bring distinction to Maine skiing and snowboarding through competition, either as athletes or coaches.
The Hall also honors those who pioneered the sport in Maine, ski makers, ski area builders, instructors, volunteers and others who have made a significant contribution to the sports. This incoming class will bring the number of those honored to 160, whose biographies can be found on the Museum’s website: www.maineskiandsnowboardmuseum.org. ....

The Davistown Museum is a tool, art, and regional history museum with two physical locations in Maine and a website, rich with resources. Its main building is in Liberty, while its office and a sculpture garden are in Hulls Cove (Bar Harbor). The primary mission of the museum is the recovery, display, and interpretation of hand tools used in Maine and New England s maritime culture. It serves as an important clearinghouse for information on the history of hand tools and their roles in the early industries of Maine and New England and offers an extensive exhibit of hand tools in Liberty and online. $50,000 awarded to extend mountain bike trail in Rumford

RUMFORD A $50,000 grant will extend a mountain bike trail, from Mountain Valley High School to Rumford Water District and town lands.

Inland Woods + Trails , a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Bethel, announced the award from the Federal Highway Recreational Trails Program and the Maine Trails Advisory Committee, a committee of the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry.
The grant will allow Inland Woods + Trails to design and construct up to four miles of mountain bike trail in Rumford for its Pennacook Area Community Trails phased extension.
Karen Wilson, an Inland Woods + Trails board member and PACT committee chairperson, said, “With this grant money, we will be able to connect the current trail to Scotties Brook, where we want to build a bench and picnic spot by the river, which is really beautiful.” ....
