LAKE CHARLES – Solid pitching, timely hitting and superb defense all came together on Friday night for McNeese in a 7-0 shutout win over Nicholls to open up a Southland Conference baseball series.
Starting pitcher Bryson Hudgens (1-2) threw six scoreless innings and allowed just three hits while striking out four, then Isaac Duplechain and Brad Kincaid followed by combining for three hitless innings as the Cowboys evened its league record to 16-16 and 23-26 overall. Kincaid saw his first action since March 26 as he’s been sidelined with an injury.

NATCHITOCHES â McNeese starting pitcher Will Dion got the early offense needed in Fridayâs first game of a doubleheader against Northwestern State when the Cowboys scored five runs in the first three innings while Dion cruised in six innings of work in a 7-1 win in a 7-inning Southland Conference game.
NSU ruined a masterful outing by Cowboy game two starter Bryson Hudgens who held the Demons to just two hits heading into the eighth inning, leading 3-1, when the Demons scored three, two-out runs to lift them to a 4-3 win and a split on the day.

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese opened up doubleheader Saturday with an 8-3 win over New Orleans before UNO took the nightcap 8-4 as the two teams split the Southland Conference DH.
McNeese (21-22, 14-12) leads the series 2-1 over the Privateers (24-19, 19-12) and will go for the series win in Sunday’s finale beginning at 1 p.m.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – McNeese got off to a slow start offensively in both Southland Conference baseball games against Sam Houston on Sunday and the result was a sweep at the hands of the Bearkats for the second straight day as the Cowboys dropped all four games on the weekend.
The 5-4, 6-4 losses dropped the Cowboys to 18-18 overall and 12-11 in league play while Sam Houston improved to 19-16 and 15-9 in the conference.
