Lawyers warned the Scottish Government was heading for defeat in its court battle with Alex Salmond more than three months before it lost the case.
In a major development which piles more pressure on Nicola Sturgeon, it emerged yesterday that they warned in September 2018 there was a real risk that the court may be persuaded by the petitioner s case in respect of the ground of challenge based on procedural unfairness .
Legal advisers then informed officials on October 31 of a very real problem which eventually led to Mr Salmond winning the case.

Police Commissioner wants 'cannabis for convicts'

A police commissioner has been branded “irresponsible” after calling for free cannabis to be given out to prisoners.
Arfon Jones, Police Commissioner for North Wales, made the proposal in an interview with The Guardian newspaper.
Cannabis is a Class B drug which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and an unlimited fine for possession.
Experiment
Mr Jones claimed that prescribing cannabis would help reduce violence and overdose-related deaths among prisoners.
He told The Guardian: “Let’s supply cannabis in controlled conditions and see if offences reduce.”
The former police inspector suggested that a number of prisons should be allowed to run a trial scheme. ....
