Â Unfortunately, the high rate of wrong way crashes (and killed and injured pedestrians) can be put squarely at the feet of bad, inebriated or distracted drivers. Every day I see poor decisions by drivers, weaving in and out, trying to turn left from the far right lane, texting and talking, all of them ignoring the rules of the road. I, with many others, was stuck on Interstate 275 waiting for the road to clear following Tuesdayâs very tragic wrong-way crash involving a Tampa police officer. While I was stopped, I saw at least two vehicles pull out of the right lane and turn to go down an on-ramp against traffic. No traffic control devices are going to cure massive stupidity, and people like Tampa police Master Patrol Officer Jesse Madsen are going to continue to be killed. My sincerest condolences ....
