Domenicali: Hoping to have USA F1 drivers very soon

Formula 1 is working with teams to identify American drivers who might make it to grand prix racing but none are likely to come through in the near term, chief executive Stefano Domenicali said on Friday.
The most recent was current Indycar front-runner Alexander Rossi who started five races with a highest placing of 12th for the now-defunct Marussia team in 2015
He put an end to that ambition with the backmarker team, which did him no favours, joined Indycar to go on and win the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie in 2016.
Domenicali told analysts on a first-quarter earnings call: “We are working with teams to try to understand what is really the possibility for American drivers to come to the attention of Formula 1 teams in the short-term. I don’t see that, being very pragmatic and realistic, coming in the next two or three years but maybe after.” ....

ROSSBURG Eldora Speedway officials revealed the 2021 schedule of events, and the anticipated return of fans to the grandstands for the first-time in 20 months.
The #LetsRaceTwo Doubleheader Weekend, May 7 and 8, showcasing both the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars and the USAC AMSOIL National Sprints Cars, kicks off a 24-night slate of events for the 2021 season.
Also, Eldora confirmed three of its marquee event weeks will feature first the event originally planned for 2021 and then the event rescheduled from 2020.
The 27th Dirt Late Model Dream will pay $127,000-to-win on Thurs., June 10, and the 26th Dirt Late Model Dream will post $126,000-to-win on Sat., June 12. ....

Porsche s racing boss Fritz Enzinger is not ruling out a Formula 1 foray for the Volkswagen-owned German sports car brand.
He told Auto Motor und Sport that Porsche is following the current behind-the-scenes talks about the future of the sport - particularly the new engine rules for 2025.
Basically, we monitor and evaluate all ongoing developments in the globally relevant racing categories, he said.
Enzinger admits that Porsche is interested in F1 s apparent direction for the future.
The new engine regulations will not come until 2025, he said. This may also be in parallel to the introduction of e-fuels, which is the prerequisite for CO2-neutral racing. ....
