Logistics firm grows with DeSoto shipping hub
Gulf Relay takes southern Dallas County distribution building to expand operations.
Gulf Relay is leasing the Crossroads Trade Center 1 building in DeSoto.(Cushman & Wakefield )
A Mississippi-based logistics company is expanding its local footprint with a new location in southern Dallas County.
Gulf Relay, a third-party logistics provider which has a facility in Coppell, is taking a big block of warehouse space in DeSoto.
Gulf Relay is leasing more than 350,000 square feet of distribution space at the Crossroads Trade Center 1 at 1221 E Centre Park Blvd in DeSoto.
The new location will more than double the company’s North Texas shipping facilities. ....

 Ron Dominguez, a Disney Legend and former executive vice president of Walt Disney Attractions, passed away at 85 on Saturday
Dominguez is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty, who he met at Disneyland 
Known as Mr. Disneyland, he previously joked his childhood home was located right about where the entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean and Cafe Orleans are today  
 Starting in July 1955, Dominguez took a summer job at the Anaheim amusement park as a ticket taker at age 20
 In 1974, the businessman became Vice President of Disneyland and, in 1990, then the executive Vice President, Walt Disney Attractions for the West Coast ....

‘Mr. Disneyland’ and former Disneyland executive dies at 85 [The Orange County Register]
Jan. 2 Ron Dominguez, a Disney legend who grew up on an orange grove ranch that later became part of the Disneyland theme park, has died. He was 85.
Starting in 1955, Dominguez worked taking entry tickets as the Anaheim park first opened. He then quickly moved through the ranks, and in 1990, he was named executive vice president for Walt Disney Attractions for the West Coast. He retired in 1994 and in 2000 he became a Disney Legend. He also was given a window on the theme park’s Main Street.
Getting a window is a significant honor, said Scott Fleener, who was among the first to learn of Dominguez’s passing early Friday, Jan. 1. ....

Laurie McBride, the highly regarded longtime advocate for people with HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ equality, died December 4 of a heart attack, according to her beloved wife Donna Yutzy, whose comment was posted on Facebook by friend Julia Mullen.
Ms. McBride, who lived in Magalia (Butte County, California), was recovering from a stroke, as she pecked out on Facebook November 7. Laurie McBride: HAD STROKE OCT 12. Lost right side. Still in rehab. Also lost kidneys so now on dialysis 3 times a week. Getting excellent care here in Chico (30 minutes from our home in Magalia). Donna visits every day.
