Army of the Dead, you might not realize at first glance that the character of Marianne Peters, played by Tig Notaro, is actually the product of a late-in-the-game replacement. Notaro was brought onto the movie after filming had already wrapped to replace original cast member Chris D Elia, the comedian who has been accused of sexual predation by multiple women. With some creative reshoots and a very hardworking team of filmmakers, all traces of D Elia were erased and then replaced with Notaro s version of the character.
Zack Snyder s Army of the Dead takes gory, glorious zombie excess to a truly wild level Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic
Imagine the most glorious, goriest orgy of zombie excess.
Now imagine that’s not nearly enough and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what’s going on in “Army of the Dead.”
As in, Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead.” Snyder is synonymous with the too-much-is-never-enough ethos in films, whether it’s effects, running time or just everything, really. Granted, “Army of the Dead” checks in at a mere 2 hours and 28 minutes practically a short film compared to the 4 hours and 2 minutes of “Justice League.”
