At its meeting Monday night, the Alexandria City Council directed city staff to take steps to establish a municipal archery deer hunt. They ll work with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to organize the hunt and set timelines. The council has discussed the possibility of authorizing a deer hunt for months after residents raised concerns about the growing number of deer in the city limits and the damage they re causing to gardens, trees and other property. ....
LONDON, ONT. A so-called temporary downtown parking lot could soon be extended into its fourth decade of operation. First approved by city council in 1992, the temporary parking lot at 192-196 Central Ave. is one of a trio of lots behind Richmond Row seeking three-year extensions from city council. The lot at 193-197 Central Ave. was first granted temporary parking lot zoning in 2005, an adjoining lot at 200 Albert St. initially received temporary parking lot zoning in 2004. All three lots are owned by Farhi Holdings. However, Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACO) believes routine renewals every three years reduces the incentive to build on the properties. ....
