Owego Woman Charged With Murder in Pa. Drug Overdose
An Owego woman is accused of causing another woman’s death in a drug overdose in Bradford County, Pennsylvania in January, 2020.
36-year-old Mindyn Marmillion was charged March 31 with murder, providing narcotics that resulted in death, manslaughter and assault.

Sayre police are still investigating the death of 33-year-old Ashley Richardson of Camillus at the Best Western motel on January 10, 2020.
Officials arrested other people who were in the hotel room the night Richardson died but just last week leveled the murder charge against the Tioga County woman.
Marmillion is being held in the Bradford County jail. ....

Twenty-one year-old Peyton Morse was living out his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter when tragedy struck earlier this month at a training  academy.
Morse, a Siena College senior, died Friday afternoon in a Pennsylvania hospital, nine days after suffering a medical emergency while at a firefighter training program for recruits at the state Fire Academy of Fire Science at Montour  Falls, near Watkins Glens in Schuyler County. He was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Penn., according to published reports. Details of his death could not be learned Saturda ....

SWOSU Names New Endowed History Scholarship

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has announced that it will name the university’s newest history scholarship endowment in honor of the late Brenda Lu Lumpkin.
Lumpkin was raised in Weatherford and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1971. Brenda attended SWOSU and earned degrees in both 1974 and 1978. She taught at Weatherford Public Schools from 1975 to 1985. She then worked at SWOSU for two years, teaching counseling and assisting student teachers. Brenda continued to work as a counselor in the Clinton Public Schools system.
Lumpkin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weatherford, where she was the university director for Sunday School. On May 30, 1965, she was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Butler. ....

Politically-Connected Developer Enters PA's Race For U.S. Senate


PHILADELPHIA, PA (WHYY) Montgomery County real estate developer and GOP fundraiser Jeff Bartos, 48, is the latest candidate to join the race for Pennsylvania’s open 2022 U.S. Senate election.
Bartos, a Republican, ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 2018, hitching his wagon to former State Sen. Scott Wagner, a York County waste management millionaire who pitched himself as a Donald Trump-like figure. The Wagner-Bartos ticket lost badly to incumbent Democrat Tom Wolf.
