ND Senate passes bonding bill at level House set

The bonding bill is on its way to North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.
 
The Senate passed HB 1431 unanimously today (Thu).  The bill is back to the House level of $680 million.
 
Senators considered a $1.1 billion bill. Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner of Dickinson says the Senate Appropriations Committee looked at it and felt that “adding things would only gum up the process.”
 
Wardner says it’s exactly the same as the House passed it – meaning it will not have to be in a conference committee. He says such things as infrastructure for state buildings, and $30 million for township roads are out of the bill. But ....

WEST FARGO Four years after the city of West Fargo decided to begin sending its wastewater to Fargo and decommission its lagoon system, the city will begin the process this year.
After a meeting of city staff and commissioners on Jan. 25, Public Works Director Matt Andvik suggested completing the decommission in-house by hiring five new public works employees and one additional engineering staff member at the city commission s regular meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 16. ....

West Fargo to proceed with the decommission of the city sewage lagoon

WEST FARGO (KFGO) – It’s been a long time in the planning and now the West Fargo City Commission has approved a plan to decommission the sewage lagoon north of the city.
Since 2019, the city has been sending its sewage to Fargo for treatment. Public Works Director Matt Andvik recommended, and the city commission agreed to have public works employees do the project instead of using outside contractors. Andvik says that means significant savings to the city.
He says an engineers report two years ago estimated the cost at between $17-million and $30-million. Andvik says the in-house estimate will cost between $12-million and $16-million ....
