Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurates the first-ever Online Exhibition on Ramayana

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture ( I/C), Shri Prahlad Singh Patel addressed a webinar ‘India’s Heritage: Powering Tourism’ organized by Ministry of Tourism on the occasion of World Heritage Day 2021 today. He also inaugurated the Online Exhibition on Ramayana, the Epic by Maharishi Valmiki which is the very first online exhibition on the Ramayana. The online exhibition showcases forty nine(49) miniature paintings collections of National Museum, New Delhi from different art schools of India, dating from the 17th through the 19th century.

New Delhi, Feb 16 : An online exhibition of archival portraits of leading Indian classical artists, including Kishori Amonkar, Pt. Birju Maharaj and Shovana Narayan, taken at their live performances is currently open for view. The photographs are taken by Lucknow-based photographer Rakesh Sinha
The exhibition is titled Aks e Mausiqui (Shadow of Music).
This collection of heritage photographs of some of the most known classical musicians and dancers photographs captures the myriad moods and emotions of the artist as they immerse themselves in their art forms. ....

Astad Deboo passes away: He talked with every muscle in body — and with his stillness


At that Kolkata performance, Deboo synthesised Kathak with Kathakali and contemporary styles. The form would never need a name; it was just Astad Deboo’s dance.
Says dancer Navtej Singh Johar, “He singularly forged his own way, had a unique vocabulary, and tread his own path diligently for decades. He was working right till the end. He was very clear in his vision about what his vocabulary was and he kept building on it. For the longest time, he was the only one on the horizon.”
Choreographer Shiamak Davar, who briefly trained with Deboo, says he influenced him and others to pick up modern contemporary dance. Describing Deboo as “way ahead of his time”, Davar adds, “In the West, they did not consider his dance Indian enough, and in India, it was not considered Western enough… That’s something I completely understand and relate to. But I think now people have understood that whether you’re Western or Indian or a mix of both, you’re original, and that’s ....
