MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WAFF) - School systems across north Alabama are working to facilitate vaccines for educators.
Teachers have been moved to phase 1b of getting the COVID-19 vaccine which means they can start receiving the shot as soon as next week
“We’re ready to go as soon as we get the call,” said Muscle Shoals City Schools’ Lead Nurse, Kelley Word.
The Muscle Shoals City School System sent out a survey to its teachers to see who wants the vaccine. ....

FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - A salon owner in the Shoals is reaching out to more than a dozen colleagues who lost their businesses to a fire on Tuesday.
First came the pandemic.
Then this devastating fire.
“I cried yesterday when I read the news of this happening and watching it burn,” said Amanda Harrison.
On Tuesday, more than a dozen business owners woke up to their livelihood decimated by an early morning fire at the Supreme Kut Professional building in Florence. ....

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - Did you know that adults need foster homes in Alabama too?
We have all heard of caregivers and nursing homes, but what about adult foster homes?
“I supervise foster care and adult protective services and that has increased,” said Leah Yocom.
Yocom works with Franklin county DHR. She said there is an increased need for adult foster homes for adult protective services.
“We have reports of physical abuse, neglect, exploitation for the adults and we investigate that and sometimes people have a physical or mental capacity that they need additional services,” said Yocom. ....

The Huntsville VA Clinic is now administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine by appointment only. This is for Veterans who receive treatment at the Huntsville VA, Guntersville CBOC, or the Shoals area CBOC.
If you believe you are eligible, you are asked to call the Huntsville VA Clinic at 256-533-8477. You can also call that number to make an appointment. ....
