CLEVELAND, Ohio There’s never been a better time to be a bike enthusiast in Northeast Ohio. The region is experiencing a trail boom and new plans regularly call for extending the network.
To give you an idea of the major trails available to explore, cleveland.com has compiled a list of 21 bike paths, beginning with the longest.
Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio The city has applied for a Cuyahoga County Healthy Urban Tree Canopy grant to plant nearly 150 trees on Van Aken Boulevard along the Greater Cleveland RTA Blue Line median strip.
If approved in full, another 25 trees would be planted in the Onaway median from Van Aken to Keswick Road, for a total of 174 in all at a projected cost of $67,000, with a 10% local match ($6,700).
The goal of the program is to help lessen the impacts of climate change and tree canopy loss, Public Works Director Patti Speese and City Forester and Right-of-Way Coordinator Chuck Orlowski noted in a council memo. ....

South Euclid begins second phase of gift card program to help those impacted by pandemic

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio The city is rolling out a second phase of a program it first conducted last May in which it is giving to residents in need gift cards to help them through the pandemic.
Last spring and summer, with the help of community development corporation One South Euclid, the city distributed to eligible residents a total of $4,000 in Giant Eagle gift cards. This year, Community Services Director Keith Benjamin said, $5,000 worth of gift cards will be given using a portion of what the city received in federal CARES Act money. The cards will come in $50 and $100 increments and can be used at participating grocery stores. ....
