London City Lionesses' head coach and keeper extend stays

London City Lionesses head coach Melissa Phillips and goalkeeper Shae Yanez have both signed new contracts with the club.
Phillips took charge of the Lionesses in October 2020 and was named FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Month in January 2021, after guiding the club to six games unbeaten – including five in a row without conceding a goal – and a first win away from home in 18 months.
Phillips told londoncitylionesses.com: “I am honoured to be awarded the opportunity to continue leading London City and driving the vision of the club forward. The growth of the team and each individual player has been tremendous and incredibly proud of the way we’ve come together amidst the challenges the past year has presented. We’ve enjoyed some successful moments throughout the season and have a number of exciting plans in place moving forward to achieve our goals.” ....

Sam Tierney did break the deadlock midway through the second half via a free kick, on the follow up from her first attempt.
Natasha Flint volleyed home the Foxes second from an Esmee De Graaf cross, as Leicester secured the win and therefore moved beyond the reach of title rivals Durham. ....

Coventry United climbed off the foot of the FA Women’s Championship with a big 1-0 win over London City Lionesses.

A single goal gave Coventry United a huge boost in their battle to stay up, as Hayley Crackle struck from 30 yards midway through the first half.
