The bombing run was part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Capstone program, where top military brass get to watch live firepower displays. Conservationists are rallying around a pair of state legislative resolutions opposing the proposed expansion of an Air Force bombing training range they say would threaten big horn sheep and other wildlife at a national refuge in southern Nevada. The Nevada Test and Training Range covering 4,531 square miles (11,735 sq. kilometers) of federal land already includes about half of the 2,031 square-mile the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.
