Joe Biden s administration announced last week that it would drop U.S. opposition to generic drug makers in developing countries getting recipes for COVID-19 vaccines, the change in policy resonated loudly in Vermont.
It drew praise from Sen.
Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Our vaccination efforts here at home will only be successful if vaccination efforts in the developing world happen simultaneously, he said in a statement. Supporting this [patent-protection] waiver, and putting people over profits, will help us to do that by speeding up the production and availability of vaccines.

The reporter could have announced the hire of the highly qualified Dr. Liliana Rodriguez and all that she brings to this long-awaited position. Instead, MacMillan centers himself by immediately creating a divisive rhetoric that paints every party in a negative light. He attempts to ensnare Dr. Rodriguez in some kind of thrill-seeking “gotcha” moment.
We are not strangers to the fraught history of this position, and we have pressed the CVSD board and administration for forward movement, transparency and inclusivity in this hiring process; however, using this hire announcement to throw mud at the CVSD board rather than highlight Rodriguez’s experience, passion and aspirations for the position is in very poor taste. ....

Since this is the fourth time I have seen my name printed in Shelburne News since July 2020, I thought I would take the time to fill in some gaps. This is what I am currently comfortable sharing and I do not want to be reached for further questions.
I was initially offered a teacher’s contract and after some negotiation, I was offered a hybrid position —neither a teacher nor an administrator contract. 
On June 23, I was informed that the position would be on an administrator contract which prompted me to embark on further negotiations.
During this process, I provided information to necessary parties about comparable salaries for director of diversity, equity and inclusion positions, my 12-plus years of experiences in public education in various roles, with special education, as an adjunct lecturer, etc., and suggestions about how to frame the work ahead. ....
