Driver, 19, dies after crashing into Mississippi River
A passenger survived.
A young driver died northwest of the Twin Cities early Sunday when he crashed into the Mississippi River.
The incident happened in Big Lake Township in the early hours of the morning, with the 19-year-old driver, Dashon Rodriguez, found dead in the vehicle after it was pulled from 11 feet of water.
A passenger, 22-year-old Michael Moksnes, was able to get out, swam to shore, and went to a nearby house for help.
An investigation found that Rodriguez had missed a 90-degree turn on the 15500 block of Sherburne County Road 30, with the Sherburne County Sheriff saying he was traveling at a high rate of speed.
