Victoria Young A group of pageant winners are teaming up with the 1Can Organization in Cabarrus to help fight student hunger this upcoming school year. After the pandemic closed schools to in-person learning in 2020, many students were without access to nutritional meals. To help kick start the 2021/22 school year off, Sheryl Kluge, founder of 1Can Inc., plans to donate 1,000 school snack packs to the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City School systems. To help, six local pageant winners are helping Kluge collect food items for the snack packs. These six pageant queens and princesses are: Emmerson Perry, Miss Statesville s Outstanding Teen 2020 Carolina Princess ....

(WBTV) - When it comes to helping the less fortunate there will always be demand and between the pandemic coupled with the holidays - it’s skyrocketing and some nonprofits need more help now to increase their supply. Felicia Pollard is preparing for her second annual holiday giveaway with her non profit P&P Foundation for Change. She’s planning to deliver food and toys to 10 families and 100 blankets to people in Tent City ‚but she’s run into a problem. ....
By Thomas Lott Sheryl Kluge set a goal to give away 70 holiday meals before Christmas right out of the seven Blessing Boxes throughout the County. They were able to give out 140 when all was said and done. âI am so proud of Cabarrus County,â Kluge said. âThe residents of Cabarrus County, they make me cry. Iâm going to tear up right now again.â The Cabarrus Blessing Boxes have been active in the county for more than a year now but have really picked up in usage and need since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The unemployment rate in North Carolina remains high with the most recent statistics sitting above 6 percent and residents of Cabarrus County are no exception. ....
