Inverness Sheriff Court: Man jailed for 'brutal' shovel attack on Labrador

A man who beat a dog over the head with a shovel in a “brutal and violent attack” has been jailed for eight months.
Bono the Labrador was left with broken teeth and there was blood on the walls after William Allan’s attack, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.
As Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald imprisoned the 52-year-old, she said: “It was a brutal and violent attack on a dog.”
She criticised Allan, of Benula Road, Inverness, for “lying” about the incident and his “lack of remorse”. ....

An Aberdeenshire farmer died after he put his head inside a grainer to clean it while it was still operational, a sheriff has ruled.
Andrew Ironside died in the horrific accident at Auchlinn Farm in November on November 10, 2018.
A fatal accident inquiry was held into the tragedy late last year. Sheriff Robert Macdonald has now released his findings, which suggest the tragedy could have been avoided if measures to prevent the grainer from working while the safety hatches were open had been put in place. ....
